Site: Titanic Quarter, Belfast, Northern Ireland

I

Though we choose to debate moral stance and ethical approaches within the human scale, we are never fully conscious or in control of the living system. These virtues or extremities are therefore simply violated because we do not adhere to them.

'Privacy and identity are a prideful aspiration, concocted from somewhere that we should be granted that privilege' - a false romanticism every human labourer is confronted with.

Behind the pragmatic and seamlessly perfect infrastructure that we live in (economic, ecological and social advancements), ignorance and cognitive dissonance have helped to exploited communities from around the World. We unknowingly destroy because we do not see it.

Why do we choose to ignore this?

II

Earths climate is warming. Scientists estimate that by the end of the century, the global temperature will increase by 1.8° and 4.0° Celsius leading to catastrophic changes to the world as we know it today. Famine, droughts, disease and weather conditions are all but a few of the challenges ahead. It is of detrimental importance that we adapt to our climate if we are to coexist.

This project seeks to envisage architecture with a mean of analysing and seeking to encourage Blood donation within the eligible population. The project uses micro-housing as a means of incentive for blood donation (human scale), which is circulated and cleaned before being stored and donated as a worldwide export. This process seeks to reinvent medical technology on a local and worldwide scale as a means of hacking (reverse engineering) temporary architecture as a means of residence.

This design, therefore, hopes to raise awareness about our dependency and exploitation of natural finite resources as a means of consumerism and that we should be aware of these consequences. The extraction and exportation of blood and melanin as a natural resource through existing hyper-connected global flows looks to improve Worldwide healthcare to those who cannot make a difference.

A natural resource which doe not stain the landscape, but instead shows compassion through ethical and moral changes to our understanding of architecture.
